[She was teasing, and offered the bag to her once they met at the door.] They're good, though. I thought it, uh, might help you feel more at home.

There are some secrets that I have to keep. [ But yes, Claudia has shown her how to use Bing ]

Would you care to join me, then? [ She took the offered pack, and although Helena wasn't quite certain how they would make her feel at home, she appreciated Myka's effort ]

Sure, if you don't mind. [Myka didn't want to be pushy. She knew being in a new place was hard enough as it was - pair that with a new century and working for a boss who didn't exactly make a secret out of hating her. She imagined there would be a need adjustment period.]

It's kind of exciting, have a new member of the team. It's just been me, Pete and Claudia for a while now.

Then hopefully I won't disappoint you. [ One of the last things that Helena might have been before being bronzed was a Warehouse agent, but that was also in a different time. She was definitely behind, and would have to catch up.

Helena stepped to her door, pushing it open to invite Myka in ] You might need to show me a few things.

[Myka follows her into the room, taking a look around. It's not exactly as homey as her and Pete's room but that's not surprising.]

You mean like how to use the remote control for the television? [She teasing, but she does imagine there will be a lot that Helena has to catch up on. Good thing she seems like a quick learner.]

That may be something to get to eventually. [ Very eventually. If there was anything that would interest her, anyway. (All that CSI...) ]

There may be a few more important things. [ Helena took a seat on the bed, opening the pack of Twizzlers but just holding them ]

[As far as Myka's concerned, she's not missing much on TV this days. She might be interested in the concept of a Kindle, though...]

Something specific you had in mind?

[ She certainly would be interested in it, although getting her to not lament losing the feel of a good book... that would be longer ]

Well, it has been over a century since I was a Warehouse agent, never mind a part of the world. I can't imagine what has changed, other than technology. [ A lot of those social finesses, too ]

Well, I was never a Warehouse agent for a century ago so I'm not sure what's changed either. [Myka was teasing her, of course.] I can show you around tomorrow, if you want. That might give you an idea of what kind of new technology has been implemented since you were Bronz- erm. Since you... have been... gone.

You can say it. [ Helena had been bronzed by her own request, after all, and it wasn't exactly a secret around the Warehouse either ]

Though I would appreciate that. It would be nice to to get a proper view of this Warehouse, and how everything goes. I might need to know for if I ever get to go on a mission, or go down into the Warehouse.

[ Myka might have had an idea about Artie's dislike for her but she didn't know of the restrictions that Helena had whilst others were on a mission. Never mind not being being trusted to go on one, despite her experience ]

[Myka nodded, moving to sit down on Helena's bed. It was kind of a move rooted in familiarity but if Myka had to be honest, there was almost something familiar about Helena. Myka felt at ease around her.]

Well, there's no way Artie is going to keep you cooped up on the office for the rest of your career so, yeah, I think it's a good idea for you to actually look at the Warehouse. [She smiled.] You know, I'm sure that when he's finally comfortable with you, things can go back to normal and you'll be out in the field again.

If he had his way he would.

[ And Helena knew that he would very much like that, and that his feeling 'comfortable' about her wouldn't be quick, or maybe not even too likely. But she was at the Warehouse, a part of everything. Helena could deal with everything else just for being there ]

At least I'll have more than enough time to adjust to this century, and adequately catch myself up on everything.

Artie will come around.

[Myka hoped anyway. She didn't know why he couldn't see what she saw in Helena, or why he hated her so much. Things were still tense between them over the whole ordeal and Myka wondered how soon it would be before he started seeing her that way, too.]

What have you learned so far? I mean, it took you a while to meet up with us again, I'm sure you've been exposed to some things already.

I've learned that a lot has changed. [ No kidding. From whatever Myka had read or could imagine about the world in which Helena had come from, Helena hadn't imagined that the world would be as it was now ]

Although in terms of actual knowledge I fear that what I've learned isn't all that much. [ Not as much as she would like, anyway. There's still a lot that either confuses her, or she's uncertain of. Although she's learned not to ask questions about all of it, not with everyone anyway - that would be a giveaway ]

I have done considerable amounts of reading, however - not all of it for 'catching up'. [ It's that love of literature, and she can't help herself ]

There's a lot of good things to read that you missed. I could... Uh, give you some suggestions if you want.

[Suggesting literature to H.G. Wells. Now that was something that was never on Myka's To-Do list.]

I have a feeling that I'm going to need them. It has been over a century after all, I can't even imagine how much has been written in that time.

[ Considerably more than Helena could even read, or count. Or imagine. The numbers are two high, particularly with how many more people had become writers ]

A lot more than you wouldn't probably expect. The publishing industry is pretty lucrative these days, and a lot of writers write three or four books a year. Sometimes even more.

[Fortunately, most of Myka's literary interests are a tad bit on the older side and likely more in parallel with HG's interests.]

Just... Don't ask Pete.
