[Myka found herself hoping that Helena wouldn't leave again. Especially now, the idea of her staying around long enough to see Myka back onto her feet before once again vanishing into the ether was heartbreaking to the point that Myka would have preferred her not showing up at all.

Her betrayal had been hard enough, and watching her be a prisoner even more so. Getting her back to only lose her again and again was a cruelty that Myka wasn't sure she could continually recover from.]

For now. [The words are quiet and more resentful than she intended, and Myka turns her head and closes her eyes.] I could definitely use a distraction.

[ Helena had caught the words, and the tone behind them, and she knew what Myka meant by them. She'd left before, and possibly would again if she found that easier - she was a coward, and she did know it. But she didn't want to leave, not this time. Not if it would hurt Myka again, and hurt herself.

But she would address that later, when Myka was stronger, when they were better. She didn't want to fight her now, she only wished to help her ]

Then I am yours to use. We've had little trouble there before.

[ When they'd talked after Helena's reinstatement, in the down time between artifact retrieval that had been able to really talk. There'd been a lot that Helena had wanted to know, and Myka too, and they had a lot of shared interests. None of that had changed ]

[Myka didn't want to fight either. What mattered was that Helena was there, whether the timing had been deliberate or accidental didn't really matter. It made more of a difference to Myka than should would have thought it would.]

How is everyone doing? I didn't really check in with anyone before I left.

[Mostly because there were more important things going on and she didn't want to distract from it with her own issues. But that went without saying. Helena knew as well as anyone what it was like to harbor a painful secret, and Myka was glad that there wasn't any fallout. She might not be so lucky when Claudia or Artie found out.]
